HOLLAND (WHTC) – The Fraternal Order of Police is asking the City of Holland to consider selling 4 acres of land in Holland Township. The FOP once used the city’s land as a shooting range, until homes were built nearby. Now the FOP wants to sell its land and hopes the city will do the same. The two sites share a driveway. The city’s land, at 135 Elberdene Drive, has an appraised value estimated at $70,000. City Council must first declare the land surplus property before any sale. City staff are suggesting proceeds from the sale to create a police academy scholarship through the Holland/Zeeland Community Foundation. The council will review the request at its Wednesday evening meeting.
