City of Zeeland officials are considering joining the MAX Transit Authority.
If Zeeland joins, voters there will help decide a .4 millage next May also set for Holland and Holland Township. The City of Holland and Holland Township must approve Zeeland’s request to join the transit authority.
MAX’s Zeeland routes are considered successful, based on ridership and funding, according to Zeeland records.
The MAX millage would pass if two of three communities approve it. In Zeeland the millage would generate an estimated $255,000, according to city documents.
MAX Ridership is up nearly 15 percent for Max’s night owl route, but the bus system lost 2,000 rides a month after Kandu closed this summer.
Zeeland City Council is set to meet at 5:30 p.m. today (Nov. 16), at City Hall, 21 S. Elm St.
