HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The first six of 10 candidates stepped up for interviews for a Holland City Council vacancy Monday. City officials need to fill Mayor Nancy DeBoer’s at-large seat by Dec. 9.During 30-minute interviews, the candidates — Nathan Bocks, Matthew Hefko, Darlene DeWitt, Tim Vreeman, Molly Latchaw and Michael Hovinga — said they’d support the city’s initiatives, according to The Holland Sentinel.
Several of the hopefuls have run for council seats in the past and many currently serve on city and civic boards. The at-large seat’s term has two years left.The remaining four candidates, Seth Getz, Quincy Byrd, Ian McKay and Jerry Tonini, are set for interviews on Thursday at City Hall.
Council members will decide who gets the job immediately after Thursday’s interviews.
