GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Ed Post sentenced Victor Donaldson to between 10 and 30 years in prison today. The 17-year-old Holland man was 16 when he stabbed Ja’Paris Rodgers to death during a late-night altercation along Riley Street on Holland’s North Side more than 16 months ago and was found guilty of second-degree murder this past August. Prosecutors said that this was a gang-related incident, while Donaldson’s attorney claimed that the act was in self-defense. The sentencing was delayed due to the investigation of a court violation by one of the jurors during deliberations. An appeal of the conviction is expected.
