OTTAWA COUNTY, MI (WHTC) – An Ottawa County man will spend eight years behind bars for failing to register as a sex offender in Tennessee.
Adam Puga, 44, has had several felony convictions over the past seven years including a 1993 conviction for sexually assaulting a preteen in Ottawa County.
Puga moved to Tennessee according to investigators because he had difficulty finding a job In Michigan. State and federal law required that he register as a sex offender and keep his registration up-to-date which he has not done since 2012. He was arrested 10 months ago ion Tennessee on unrelated charges.
U.S District Court Judge Gordon J. Quist sentenced Puga to eight years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.
