HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A local construction company is taking steps toward promoting the safety of its workers. Lakewood Construction has signed a partnership with the state Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration to set a goal of no worker injuries, accidents and near misses during construction of the new Caledonia High School south campus building in Kent County. MIOSHA Director Martha Yoder says Lakewood is to be commended for demonstrating superior standards of worker safety and health. The initiative outlines a clear safety objective and provides analytics to help all parties improve their safety awareness with the ultimate goal of zero recordable injuries and ensuring everyone returns home in the same condition they came to work in. Construction on the new $28 million Caledonia campus began last month, and the new building will be open to students in the fall of 2017.
