ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – Zeeland City Council is preparing to vote on a few street projects during their meeting on Monday. One of the projects up for vote are some changes to the city’s six-year street capital improvement plan, which were first introduced by Scott Nienhuis.
Park Street and Williams Street in Zeeland are a part of that plan and currently are set to be start reconstruction in the coming year. However, Nienhuis is recommending delaying Williams Street and repairing Park Street and Jefferson Street instead. He stated in a memo to city council that the severe deterioration of both of those streets have caused problems for both city maintenance and drivers alike.
Also during the council meeting, members will vote on whether or not the city should pursue grant money for the reconstruction of Washington Avenue from Franklin Street to the west city limits. The project will cost an estimated $2.1 million.
