HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Maple Avenue Ministries will be holding their 15th annual Community Kwanzaa Celebration this afternoon. The event will include traditional Kwanzaa presentations, as well as a diverse panel of participants and guests. This year’s theme is “The Year of Yes.”
Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration held in the U.S. at the end of December. It is associated with the Swahili first fruit celebration and celebrates the principals of unity, self-determination, collective work, purpose, creativity, and faith.
Maple Avenue Ministries will also raise scholarship funds during this event to assist two area African American high school graduates. Maple Avenue ministries is located at 427 Maple Avenue in Holland. The festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. today.
