Holland City Council will hear about a set of sustainability guidelines next month.
The city’s sustainability committee wants to get city officials asking how plans and programs can incorporate elements of smart energy, transportation, economic development, community education, the environment and quality of life.
Committee Chairwoman Diane Haworth said the guidelines will improve Holland.
“We need to look at the sustainability aspects of all of our projects,” she said, “and begin to identify how can we make our projects better, and do more that’s going to help make this a community of choice.”
The committee will bring the plan to Holland City Council’s study session on Jan. 13. Once guidelines are approved, the committee expects to update it at least annually.
