GRANDVILLE, MI (WHTC) – Shoppers at Rivertown Crossings Mall in Grandville are complaining to mall management about a store displaying confederate flag merchandise that they deem offensive.
According to an mlive.com report, a holiday pop-up shop called 3rd Dimension prominently displays a shirt with a confederate flag and the words “If This Shirt Offends You…You Need A History Lesson” on the front. The store also has several confederate flags hanging around the shop and also sells items such as 3-D art and scented shea butters.
Jim Fryer and his wife, Sonja Schultz Fryer, two Grand Rapids Public School teachers, were one of the first people to complain about the store. They have organized a protest of the store and it is scheduled for today. Jon Jaco, the owner of 3rd Dimension, told mlive.com that the Fryers are the only two people who have complained to him about the Confederate flag merchandise.
