Lola Mae Lawson, 73 of Saugatuck, Michigan passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Born April 27, 1948, in Paragould, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late James and Daisy (Brichfield) Grooms. Lola was an amazing mother and friend. She was a hard worker, spending 32 years at Tiara Yachts before retiring. In her spare time, you could find her working on her arts and crafts, watching her game shows – especially Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy – along with gaming on her phone. Being more of a homebody, she enjoyed time by herself and time with her family. Lola was a caring person who was always able to give of herself. Her daughter and son knew they came first in her life and that she was extremely proud of them. They, along with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, knew they held a special place in her heart and that the memories they created will carry them through in the days and years ahead. She is now with her soul mate, Lewis Hopkins, whom she was blessed to have in her life for 20 years before his passing in November.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tammy (Tom) Church; her son, Calvin Lawrance Lawson; four grandchildren, Tanya, Shawn, Benjamin, and Samantha; her great-granddaughter, Kailey; four siblings, Lewis (Sandy ) Lyttaker, Richard Lyttaker, Joe Brichfield, and James Grooms; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will meet with friends at Chappell Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, at which time a Memorial Service will begin. Chappell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
