JAMESTOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Drivers involved in a two-vehicle crash east of Zeeland were injured on Saturday (Dec. 18, 2021) evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer, an unnamed deputy on patrol in the area of 48th Avenue and Byron Road around 5:30 PM came upon the collision scene “which just occurred,” he said in a department statement. “The deputy rendered medical assistance to the injured drivers, and then began his investigation.
“He determined a Pontiac G5, driven by a 20-year-old man from Dorr, had been stopped at the stop sign on northbound 48th Avenue. The man then proceeded northbound, into the path of an eastbound Toyota, driven by a 33-year-old man from Zeeland. The collision sent both vehicles into a field off the roadway.”
Before he was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury, the Dorr man was “cited for failing to yield the right-of-way,” according to Hallmeyer, while the Zeeland man was treated at the scene for a minor ailment and released.
