BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Kellogg Company and the union representing nearly 1,400 workers have reached a second tentative agreement for a new five-year labor contract.
If ratified by union membership, it would end a strike that started in early October.
Members of the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union at Kellogg cereal plants in Battle Creek, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Memphis, Tennessee and Omaha, Nebraska will vote Sunday on the tentative deal.
The first tentative deal was overwhelmingly voted down and Kellogg’s have brought in replacement workers to replace the strikers.
A news release from Kellogg’s stated the tentative deal includes increased pay for all employees including across the board wage increases and COLA (Cost-of-Living Adjustment) starting in the first year of the agreement.
There are also improvements in health care coverage and retirement benefits.
Kellogg’s says they are not requesting any concessions from the union.
