HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Grand Haven Public and Zeeland Public schools are among districts canceling classes while police investigate threats.
In a message to the community, Zeeland Superintendent Brandi-Lyn Mendham wrote, “We understand the very real pressure and fear that our students are feeling and know that our parents and staff are equally concerned. We remain committed to our relationship with local law enforcement, who take every report or rumor seriously and investigate immediately.”
Her note reminded readers that ZPS participates in the statewide OK2Say michigan.gov/ok2say confidential reporting tipline active daily around the clock. Any suspicious activity can be made reported by phone (855) 565-2729); text, to 652729, or email at OK2SAY@mi.gov.
A bomb threat against Newaygo schools is under investigation as well as threats against schools in Muskegon County, where Prosecutor D-J Hilson is reminding people that such threats, real or hoaxes, will have “very serious consequences.”
Already a number of teens across the state are facing charges for making such threats.
