JACKSON MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Consumers Energy is deploying two new state-of-the-art vehicles that will be used to detect natural gas leaks.
The devices, made by Piccaro, Inc., will have the ability to determine where a leak is occurring, what size it is, and will calculate the risk.
The new technology is said to be 1000 times better than the current system being used.
The company said that the new vehicles are part of the larger plan to get to zero methane emissions by 2030.
Consumers Energy delivers natural gas throughout Michigan via a 28 thousand mile network.
