Robert “Bob” Jacob Westfield, 83 of Fennville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2021, at the Wings Home in Allegan, Michigan. Born September 23, 1938, in Douglas, Michigan, he was the son of the late Russell Westfield and Florence “Marie” (Haan) Westfield. He was the husband of Margie (Groover) Westfield. After graduating from Fennville High School, Bob was proud to serve in the United States Army and then the Army Reserves as PVT 1st Class. As a civilian, Bob worked on the family Christmas tree farm. Bob also worked as a machinist for Rockwell, serving 30 years, before he retired at age 50. Not one to sit around, he decided to go to work for the Hamilton Lumber Company and then Menards, finally retiring at age 65. Bob had many hobbies to keep him busy. He enjoyed woodworking, making cabinets, end tables, and bookcases. He was also an avid trapper and a member of the National Trappers Association. Spending time outdoors gave Bob a great feeling and he enjoyed feeding his birds and other small animals. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife of 59 years. Bob was a person who always put his family first, showing them what a dedicated and loving family man was truly all about. His fun-loving, adventurous spirit will live on in all who knew him.
Those surviving and keeping memories close in heart are his wife Margie; his daughter, Tammy (Doug) Ballou; his grandson, Corey Ballou. His siblings, Donna (Don) Canales, Ronnie Westfield. His sister-in-law Evelyn (Carl) Mobley, Linda Gonzales, and Brenda (Pete) Bracamonte; his brother in law, Gary Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews, along with many close friends
Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings Joyce Carpenter, Cindy (Gene) Barnett; brother-in-laws Charles Groover, Bobby (Alamae) Groover, Gerald Groover, “Y” Gonzales, and sister in law Thelma (John) Satterfield.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will take place at the Fennville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s name to Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn Street, Allegan, MI 49010. The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to the volunteers and nurses at the Wings Home for their compassion and tenderness during their time of need.
