HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A West Ottawa school bus with 41 children aboard was involved in a three-vehicle collision just after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of James Street and 132nd Avenue.
Police crash investigators learned that a 16-year-old Holland girl, driving a 2015 Kia, hit a red Dodge Avenger with a 23-year-old Holland man at the wheel. That crash sent the Dodge into the bus, which had been stopping at the railroad crossing near the intersection.The impact caused a fire in the Dodge, but Holland Township firefighters and Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies were able to douse it quickly, according to police.
No one was physically hurt in the crash, according to police. James Street was closed in the immediate aftermath of hte crash, for the safety of all involved. The Holland girl was ticketed for causin the crash, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan DeVries.
