HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The City of Holland’s human relations commissioners have organized an online two-part lunch-and-learn session on affordable housing.
These Zoom sessions, set for noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, and Thursday, Oct. 21 will cover how vital affordable housing as it relates to building what organizers call “a safe, vibrant and healthy community.”
One of the human relations commissioners, Rebekah Schipper, who is also executive director of Opportunity Thrive, will lead a conversation with representatives from Lakeshore Advantage, Holland Public Schools and Haworth.
“The Commission recognizes that affordable housing has been a hot topic in Holland, and we recognize that many still have questions around why we need more housing options and why we need to ensure those housing options are affordable for all,” Schipper said in a statement emailed to media. “We believe that this conversation series will help participants dig deeper into the necessity for affordable housing from the perspective of business, education, and economic development leaders. Ultimately, our hope is that participants can walk away with a richer understanding of the interwoven nature of these many sectors in our community.”
