HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies and Holland Police arrested a man on suspicion of car theft and other crimes after a high-speed pursuit just before 4:30 Sunday afternoon.
They were trying to recover a stolen gray Chrysler 300 spotted near East 32nd Street and Waverly Avenue. Holland Police gave chase, but when the driver took off, Sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit.
When the car started driving recklessly, police terminated that pursuit.
A short time later, sheriff’s deputies saw the suspect driver on foot near Chicago Drive in New Holland in Hudsonville. They managed to catch him, though he tried to flee on foot. Police later recovered the stolen car, in a nearby neighborhood.
The suspect is not being named until after arraignment on multiple charges, but is in Ottawa County Jail, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott.
