Joyce Ancelia Austin-Glenn

Joyce Ancelia Austin-Glenn passed away on October 6, 2021, at the age of 69, after suffering from Lewy Body Dementia and most recently COVID-19.

Joyce was the firstborn child of Edgar Ancil Glenn and Bettie Marie Glenn (nee Austin), born April 8, 1952. She lived in the Kalamazoo/Portage/Vicksburg/Scotts/Mendon area of Michigan her whole life. Joyce loved spending time with her family and enjoyed crocheting scarves and lap blankets, which she donated by the hundreds to local nonprofits and nursing homes, such as Generous Hands, Inc in Vicksburg, Michigan, Community Action House, and Medilodge in Holland, Michigan. She was very artistic and in her later years enjoyed painting ceramics, which she would then gift to her friends and family. Her love of nature and animals was present her whole life. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and watching their antics in the backyard. She had a great affection for her pets and hated seeing animals being mistreated in any way.

Her favorite dogs were Chloe, a Rottweiler with a heart of gold, and Siobhan, a husky mix, who survives her. She often took in neglected or abandoned animals and cared for them. She was a Mystery Science Theatre fan and passed that on to her children. She also enjoyed nature shows and watching true crime shows. She had a great interest in the field of psychology and the way that the brain works.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar Ancil Glenn and Bettie Marie Glenn, her brother, Glen Glenn, her first husband John Michael Bailey (Mick), a son Matthew, a grandson Nathan Efren Robles, and her beloved dog, Chloe.

Joyce is survived by her daughters – Gwendolyn Marie (Tomas) Robles, Jennifer (Keefe) Radtke, Sherri Radtke, Cassie (Wade Bolhuis) Meisterheim, and Victoria Meisterheim. She is also survived by her grandchildren Emma Robles, Elijah Robles, Blain Radtke, Adrienne Radtke, Madison Radtke (Harold Brown, Jr), Ryen Isabelle Radtke, and Sean and Connor Radtke. Her great-grandchildren include Sonya Radtke, Amora, and Emerson Chamblee. She is also survived by and greatly missed by her beloved sister Sandra (Todd) Skinner, her sister-in-law Janice Glenn, and nieces and nephews T.J. Skinner, Chelsea (Patrick) Sebastian, Aaron Skinner, Kristin (Joey) Hall, and Karrie Leigh Glenn, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Senior Resources, Lakeshore Senior Care, and SKLD Zeeland for their amazing care of Joyce over the last year.
