HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two Whitehall residents suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Wright Township Monday, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Sykes wrote in a press statement.
Police were called to eastbound I-96, at the 20 mile marker, in Wright Township just before 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2021.
They learned a 20-year-old Whitehall man was driving aa 2004 Jeep Liberty east on the freeway, with an 18-year-old Whitehall woman as a passenger, when a dark-colored vehicle passed the Jeep, cutting it off. The Whitehall man tried to avoid the other vehicle by slowing but the maneuvering caused the Jeep to roll over several times. Syke said EMTs treated the driver at the scene for minor injuries and the woman went by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in what police said was “good condition.”
Life EMS and Wright/Tallmadge firefighters assisted Sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
Sykes is asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office or Silent Observer at www.mosotips.com or 1 (877) 88-SILENT.
