MATTAWAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo-area Republican candidate for Michigan Governor Garrett Soldano has been permanently banned from YouTube. The video-sharing platform reportedly emailed him on Monday and said his channel was being removed due to multiple violations of the site’s community guidelines.
Soldano had been using the platform often to question the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. YouTube didn’t specifically identify which policies were violated, but sharing information that contradicts local health authorities and medical information about COVID-19 is prohibited. Soldano’s YouTube account had several videos where he shared thoughts about several issues, including the pandemic.
He says that being banned from the platform is another example of Big Tech silencing conservative voices. YouTube says Soldano can appeal the decision if he wants to.
