DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — As expected, Michigan drivers saw a big jump in prices at the pump ahead of Labor Day weekend, thanks in part to Hurricane Ida. Average gas prices increased 8 cents compared to a week ago and the statewide average is now $3.21 per gallon.
Prices have remained over a dollar higher than last year, on average, for the last several months. AAA says Hurricane Ida took 13% of U.S. oil refining capacity offline and restart dates are still to be announced as building infrastructure and damage are still being assessed. But the auto group says gas prices should start to stabilize this week.
