Vernon Leeuw, age 91, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021.
Vernon was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed going up north to spend time in his cabin. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war from 1951-1953 serving in Alaska. He was co-owner of Quality Sheet Metal and a member of Community Reformed Church. He was a faithful husband, a good provider for his family, was dearly loved, and will be incredibly missed.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Leeuw; brother, Emerson Leeuw; sister, Dorothy and John Mokma; brother, Ivan Leeuw; sister-in-law, Mary Leeuw; sister, Mary Ann, and Dennis Wyngarden; brother-in-law, Burdette VanderKolk; and brother-in-law, Paul DeGraaf.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Leeuw; son, Jeff and Jackie Leeuw; daughter, Sherri Dickman; grandchildren, Jodi and Justin Sterenberg, Jason Leeuw and fiancé Kari Niethammer, Jilynn and Matt Koomen, Jennifer and Kevin Osbeck, Ross Dickman; great-grandchildren, Makenna Koomen and Kasen Osbeck; sister, Norma VanderKolk; brother, Marvin Leeuw; sister-in-law, Shirley DeGraaf; sister-in-law, Carol, and Paul Johnson; and brother-in-law, Richard and Ann Nagelkerk.
Visitation with the family will be 4:00-6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch St. Zeeland, MI 49464
Funeral services with military honors are at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Community Reformed Church with Rev. Kurt Henry officiating. There will be a time of visitation with the family at the church that same day starting at 10:00 am.
Burial to take place in Zeeland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given in Vernon’s honor to the American Heart Association.
