HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 57-year-old Holland man suspected of unlawful imprisonment and other crimes, has been arrested by Holland police.
Holland Dept. of Public Safety Capt. Robert Buursma indicated to WHTC that officers were called to a home on 17th Street near College Avenue on the report of a stabbing at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021.
Officers found a 52-year-old Holland woman with a laceration on her right arm.
She told police she’d gone to her son’s 17th Street home to care for his dog while he was at work. Her son’s housemate confronted her, grabbing her and threatening her with a knife, according to police.
When she struggled to get away, police said, is when she was cut on the arm. The suspect allegedly tied up the victim, telling her he needed money, according to Buursma’s statement to the media.
The victim managed to get free, escaping to a neighbor’s house, where she called 911. She went to Holland Hospital for the cut on her arm, where she was treated and released.
Police searched the area, finding the suspect a few blocks away, with a credit card that belonged to the victim. He was arrested without further incident and is currently behind bars, awaiting charges to be filed by the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s office, according to Buursma. The suspect’s name is withheld pending arraignment.
