BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A murder warrant has been issued for a suspect accused in the disappearance and death of a Battle Creek woman in 2005.
Calhoun County prosecutors charged 43-year-old Harold Haulman III of Hazelton, Pennsylvania in the murder of Ashler Parlier on Tuesday. He was arrested in May as a suspect in two other murder cases in Pennsylvania and quickly became a person of interest in the cold case when it was discovered he lived in the Battle Creek area between 2002 and 2009.
Parlier’s sister, Nicole Campen, says she was reported missing 16 years ago after leaving home after an argument with her parents.
“It was unusual for her to be gone that long, but we were kind of like, she needs her space, she’ll come home this weekend sometime,” Campen said.
During an interview, detectives said Haulman admitted to having an argument with Parlier before assaulting her several times, leading to her death. He then admitted to taking her body to a remote area of Newton Township.
Deputies brought Haulman from Pennsylvania to Battle Creek to try to locate Ashley’s body, but it still has not been found.
