COOPERSVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Repairs on a water transmission main will be some inconvenience for customers getting water from the City of Coopersville this week.
According to a notice put forward by city staff, “The City of Coopersville is requesting all residents and businesses eliminate any excess water usage during the days that the needed water transmission repair work is taking place (July 27th-29th). If water use is too much and system pressure drops, the city will be issuing a boil water notice to all impacted customers. Thank you for your patience and understanding while this repair work is completed.”
On May 19th, 2021, a transmission line leak was detected under 60th Avenue in neighboring Polkton Township, necessitating a line shutdown around 5 PM. While a boil water advisory was issued, it was lifted around 9 AM, with officials saying that repairs were completed faster than expected. The water system, supported by water tanks, never lost pressure during that time.
Tuesday’s repair work may be related to that May leak.
