HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Some long-awaited railroad crossing work in Ottawa County will continue into next week.
Officials with CSX Railroad have told the Ottawa County Road Commission, as well as the City of Holland’s streets department, that crews are expected to descend along the Grand Rapids-Chicago rail line to reconstruct several rail crossings in the Holland area. Beginning on Monday, July 19, 2021, the crossings on Lakewood Boulevard near 120th Avenue, on Lincoln Avenue near East 8th Street, and on East 9th Street and East 10th Street near Lincoln Avenue will be blocked off for this effort. There will be signed detours in all four situations, and the work is expected to last “several days,” depending on weather conditions.
Earlier this week, CSX rebuilt the crossings on Cottonwood Drive and 12th Avenue near Chicago Drive in Jenison, as well as on School Street and 40th Avenue in Hudsonville, and on 80th Avenue just east of Zeeland. The company also worked on private crossings to farms and commercial entities in that stretch.
