HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — National Weather Service meteorologists in Grand Rapids have issues a beach-hazards statement, in effect today, Monday, July 5, 2021, through this evening.
Beachgoers can expect to see high-wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions.
Piers may be heavily swamped by waves.
Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers, where the most-dangerous conditions will be on the south side of piers.
Weather forecasters urge beachgoers to be mindful of the alert flags posted a beaches and stay out of Lake Michigan if the flags are red.
