Charlotte L. Amaya, age 88, of Holland, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, at Holland Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Amaya in 2018 and a brother John Mullen.
Charlotte is a beloved daughter of God, was a woman of strength and perseverance. If she believed in you and your cause she would defend and support you completely. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and was a volunteer for meals on wheels in Holland. Charlotte worked retail sales at Jacobson’s, Danbury Square, and Mira’s. Charlotte loved to dance and was very stylish. She was a member of the Pere Marquette Rod and Gun Club, played cards with a bridge group, and bowled for many years.
Charlotte was very witty with a great sense of humor, yet spiritual, and had a love for nature. She was loyal, sacrificial, selfless, and wholeheartedly loved her husband and family as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. And now she enters glory to reunite with her husband John and meet her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her children: Victor (Leslie) Amaya of Grand Rapids, MI, Sharon Amaya of Dearborn, MI, and Greg Amaya of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Ashley Amaya, Meredith (Jonathan) Amaya-Hodges, Whisper Amaya, Pilar Amaya, and Tanya Amaya; 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 1, 2021, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 100 Peter Drive, Douglas, MI 49406. Father Fabio Garzon will be the main celebrant. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
Also, on Thursday, wake prayers will begin at 9:30 am with a visitation following from 10:00 am to the start of the Holy Mass. Memorial contributions may be given to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Wounded Warrior Project, or Holland Rescue Mission. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel.
