HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two people involved in an early morning Allendale Township crash are nursing injuries, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan DeVries.
Crash investigators learned that a 22-year-old Grand Rapids woman, driving a 2006 Buick Rendevous north 48th Avenue, attempted crossing Lake Michigan Drive, near Grand Valley State University’s campus. She ignored the flashing red light at the intersection, driving into the path of a westbound 2017 Mazda with a 22-year-old Allendale woman at the wheel. The woman in the Mazda had a flashing yellow light at her intersection.
A 20-year-old Grand Rapids man in the Buick’s front seat suffered non-life-threatening injuries and went by ambulance to a Grand Rapids hospital, police said.
The driver of the Mazda also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but indicated to police she would seek care on her own.The driver of a semi-tractor trailer stopped to help at the crash scene and was initially reported at part of the crash, police said.
