GALESBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County authorities say the suspect in a double-murder at a Galesburg apartment complex Thursday morning was a neighbor of the victims.
Investigators found a 30-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds at Galesburg Village Apartments at around 7:00 a.m.. Sheriff’s deputies arrested the suspect at the scene and said he was cooperative with them while being taken into custody.
A former apartment manager told reporters with WWMT the suspect had recently asked to move to another unit but was denied. He claimed the couple was harassing him, but no evidence of that was ever found.
The couple had only been living there for a few months. Investigators said mental health issues may have played a role in the murders.
The names of the victims and the suspect are currently being withheld.
