JENISON, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 42-year-old Zeeland woman suffered critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash between Hudsonville and Jenison on Thursday, June 3, 2021, morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Eric Westveer, deputies and first responders were dispatched to Chicago Drive (M-121) between 18th and 12th avenues around 10:30 a.m. A SUV and a landscape dump truck hauling concrete were eastbound when the truck slowed to make a left hand turn toward the De Went Redi Mix complex when a SUV behind it failed to slow down and rammed the truck from behind.
The woman driving the SUV was pinned in her vehicle and had to extricated by Georgetown Township firefighters. She went by ambulance to Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The truck driver, a 31-year-old Allendale man, was not hurt.
Police closed the road briefly to for crash response and clean-up. The crash remains under investigation.
