HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 29-year-old Kentwood woman is facing several charges after a crash just before 9 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2021, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Hallmeyer damage crash into a utility pole. None of the vehicle’s eight occupants were injured.
Deputies, called to the scene of a car-utility pole crash, learned the driver had been northbound on North Fruitport Road in Spring Lake Township, but failed to negotiate a curve near Walden Drive. She lost control of the vehicle, which went off the left side of the road, hitting a utility pole.
Hallmeyer indicated alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash, noting the driver was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, and also faces six counts of child endangerment. Her name is withheld pending arraignment.
The road was closed for an hour while a Consumers Energy crew repaired the damaged utility pole.
