HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County Sheriff’s detectives and deputies are investigating three weapons-related complaints.
All happened between 1:21 and 3:46 a.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2021. No physical injuries were reported.
1:21 a.m.
Police were called at 1:21 a.m. to 48th Avenue and Pierce Street in Allendale Township to investigate a loud party when several people told the deputy they’d just heard gunshots in the area.
The deputy, looking for the source of the gunfire, spotted a car headed north on 48th Avenue, spotting the driver pointing a handgun out the window at a group of people walking on the 48th Avenue sidewalk.
That deputy made a high-risk traffic stop, with help from Grand Valley State University Public Safety officers, taking the suspect into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded firearm from the car but did not disclose specifics on the weapon to the media.
3:18 a.m.
Police were summoned to the 700 block of Lillian, Park Township at 3:18 a.m. on the report of gunshots. They found the front window of a home shot out, but no suspects or victims.
Witnesses told police they heard multiple gunshots and saw a dark SUV speed off before police arrived. No injuries have yet been reported related to this incident, which remains under investigation.
3:46 a.m.
Deputies, summoned to Canvas Town Homes, 10295 48th Ave. in Allendale Township by mulitple calls for help, found evidence of shots being fired, but no suspects or victims.
As of Sgt. Chris Dill’s email to media early Sunday, May 2, 2021, no injures had been reported.
The suspect arrested in the first incident remains in Ottawa County Jail, their name withheld pending arraignment on several charges related to Sunday morning’s incident.
Each of these cases remain under investigation by police.
