Nancy Mae Schut, age 76, of Holland, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at her home with family by her side.
Nancy was a strong and joyful woman, a wonderful mother, and a loving Mima. She courageously survived three battles with cancer before her fourth final fight. She attended Calvin University where she earned a BA in Arts and a Master’s Degree in Arts and Teaching. She dedicated her life to Christian education as a high school English teacher and was a published writer. She was a member of Bethany CRC and will be remembered for her famous pies and her love of flowers, birds, cats, books, and choral music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; William and Aletha “Mae” (Slager) Lubbers; stepmother, Wilma Lubbers; and nephew, Rob Lubbers.
She is survived by her children; Charissa Kramer, Jonathan Kramer, Christina Schut, Elizabeth Schut (John) Cook; grandchildren; Brynn and Andrew; siblings, Bob (Judi) Lubbers, David (Elizabeth) Lubbers, Ruth (Fred) Otten, Linda (Don) Hamilton, and Mary (John) Wynbeek.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, 11 E. 32nd Street, Holland. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland.
