DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices in Michigan dropped five cents per gallon on average compared to a week ago. Drivers are now paying an average of $2.79 for regular unleaded.
“Michigan motorists are seeing pump prices drop slightly after a double-digit spike,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group. “While prices are declining, the Michigan state average is still $1.25 higher than this time last year.”
Even though prices at the pump continue to be much higher than this time in 2020, it should be noted that the COVID-19 pandemic had already sent gas demand tumbling. When compared to 2019, current gas prices are actually seven cents less on average in the state.
