HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Zeeland City Council is set to have two consecutive meetings, starting with a 6 p.m. study session, followed almost immediately by a 7 p.m. business meeting.
The study session agenda includes:
- City services and infrastructure staffing plan: City Manager Tim Klunder’s memo for the meeting highlights a report noting “combining all these operations into one single department of City Services and Infrastructure … is possible IF the city were to hire a City Services and Infrastructure Director AND front-line supervisors for each division (streets/motor pool, parks/cemetery, and facilities/custodial) within a CSI Department. At a minimum, this recommendation requires two additional staff (CSI Director and Parks/Cemetery Supervisor) to the city’s structure. Based on staff’s evaluation of the cost associated with adding these two positions, the additional cost to the city would be $200,000+ annually.”
- Setting a public hearing for the planned social district: The proposed social district map would include Main Avenue between State and Centennial streets; Elm Street between Cherry and Main avenues, including the Elm Street Park; The area within Library Alley’s footprint. Areas reserved for special circumstances would include Church Street between Main and Central; the northeast and northwest corners of Vande Luyster Square; the splash pad and the south municipal parking lot. Public seating could potentially be provided in parallel parking spaces in front of Tripelroot; Library Alley’s patio area; Elm Strete Park; the south bumpout on Main, between Church and Elm.
- Consider adopting the strategic action plan and performance incentive program points assignment
