Shirley A. Ter Horst age 91, of Holland, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on March 29, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Ter Horst in 1993 and Ralph Wolthuis in 2011; grandsons, J. Daniel Koster, and Brian Ter Horst. Her siblings: Bernice Dornewerd, Florence VanDam, Andrew Brummel Jr., Don Stuursma.
Shirley was born in 1930, the daughter of Andrew and Jean Brummel, and graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High in 1948. She met and fell in love with Don Ter Horst in HS and was married in 1950. They raised their 5 children and traveled all over the world. She was very active with volunteering at her children’s schools, Creston Christian, and Grand Rapids Christian for 23 years. She loved to attend her children’s varied sports and activities meeting other parents and making new friends. She continued this activity with the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed fishing and boating with friends in Grand Rapids and Holland.
She married Ralph Wolthuis in 1996 and continued to travel and enjoyed their combined families.
After Ralph died, Shirley moved into Freedom Village and enjoyed many years of activities with old and new friends.
She is survived by her children, Don and Ann Ter Horst of Holland, Randy and Pat Ter Horst of Holland, Lori Koster of Zeeland, Dave and Joyce Ter Horst of Zionsville, IN., Linda and Steve Konyndyk of Zeeland; Grandchildren: Joanne(Tim)VanVliet, Rob(Jenna)TerHorst, Julie(Adam)Potter, Kristin(Jason)Haartman, Scott TerHorst, Becki(Brad)Dykstra, Nate(Kara) Koster, Leah(Nate)Boer, Dawn(Jeremy)Lantz, Jon(Dani)TerHorst, Andrea TerHorst, Josh TerHorst, Chelsea(Kyle)Haverdink, Brett Konyndyk, Abby Konyndyk, 29 great-grandchildren; in-laws: Phillis Brummel, Marcia Stuursma, Henry(Marge)Ter Horst, Ardith Roodvoets, Gord(Jane)Zylstra, Jim(Jane)Ter Horst; step-children, Randall(Linda)Wothuis of Caledonia, Jan Hyma of Miami, Sandy(Mitch)Veenstra of Hudsonville.
The family would like to thank the staff of Freedom Village, the Inn, and Hospice of Holland for the loving care she received.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland. There will be a graveside service for immediate family in Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery.
