NASHVILLE, TN (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Red Wings and Predators wrap up a two-game series tonight in Nashville. The Predators shut out the Red Wings 2-0 Tuesday.
Referee Tim Peel was relieved of his duties after apparently making comments during the game about wanting to give Nashville a penalty. In a statement, league officials said there was no justification for his comments and the NHL will take steps to protect the integrity of the game.
After calling a tripping penalty on Nashville Tuesday in Detroit, the Predators’ broadcast picked up sound of him saying it wasn’t much but he wanted to call a penalty on Nashville. Peel had worked since 1999 and was getting set to retire.
