On Saturday, March 6th, 2021, Sarah Shurly Williams DePree, a loving wife and mother of four children, died peacefully under the care of Vitas Hospice, Cincinnati Ohio.
She was known by her friends as Sally. She was born in Detroit Michigan on September 9th, 1934 to Robert Clifton and Beatrice Shurly Williams. She graduated from Kingswood High School (Detroit, MI) and held a BA and MA in Art and Education from the University of Michigan. She married Morse R. Heineman Jr. in 1954 and had four children. After being divorced, she married John E. DePree and settled in Flint MI where they raised the 4 children. Sally taught high school art in Grand Blanc. They retired in Tampa FL, where Sally practiced as a commercial artist.
Sally was loved by all that knew her – an instant friend, a creative and free spirit, a welcoming hostess, and a loving mother and grandmother. She blessed her children with joy, intelligence, humor, independence, and each other, and they are forever grateful.
Sally is survived by her husband Jack DePree, her sister Dee Goes, her brother Russ Wilcox, and her four children: Rob Heineman, Rick Heineman, Sarah Heineman-Williams, and Ginny Heineman-Walker, as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
