Christian Negron scored 22 points with 13 rebounds as Grand Valley State defeated the Lake Superior State Lakers on Thursday night, 72-57, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament game at Hammond, Indiana. The GVSU Lakers will now face the Michigan Tech Huskies, a 74-63 winner over host Purdue Northwest, in a league semifinal contest on Friday evening.
Alyssa Nelson tossed in 23 points as the Parkside Rangers defeated Grand Valley State on Thursday night in overtime, 77-72, in a GLIAC women’s basketball tournament quarterfinal game at Westville, Indiana. The Lakers are hoping that their 14-5 record will be good enough to secure a NCAA Division II tournament at-large berth when bids are announced next week.
