HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Allegan County will offer free COVID-19 testing (not antibody test) to anyone of any age, regardless of symptoms.
People under the age of 18 will need parent/guardian consent. You do not have to bring a lab order to be tested.
“With the B.1.1.7 variant in Michigan, there is a chance of increased transmission—infecting more people with less exposure,” Allegan County Medical Director Richard Tooker said. “Testing continues to be the best way to identify cases faster so we can quickly isolate and quarantine the exposed, which greatly reduces the chain of transmission.”
The testing events will be on the following Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Allegan County Transportation Building, 750 Airway Drive in the City of Allegan.
- Saturday, Feb. 20
- Saturday, March 6
- Saturday, March 20
People needing transportation can call Allegan County Transportation (ACT) at (269) 673-4229 before noon the day before the event, to get a free ride.
In the event of severe weather, ACHD will cancel testing events for the protection of staff and residents. Please check Facebook page @AlleganCountyHD for any event cancellation notices the day of the event.
Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, or shortness of breath, should seek testing, as should those working with the public, living in group facilities or potentially exposed. For more information about whether or not you should be tested, call the ACHD COVID-19 Hotline at (269) 686-4546. The hotline operates 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
