HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — An Allegan County Sheriff’s deputy is recovering from minor injuries suffered in a crash Thursday evening.
Allegan County Sheriff’s Lt. Brett Ensfield, in an email to media, indicated the crash happened at around 6 p.m. Jan. 14, 2021, when a deputy pulled off the road to investigate a crash on Jefferson Road near 19th Street in Otsego Township.
While the deputy was in his cruiser, with emergency lights on, a 2002 GMC Sierra hit the cruiser on the driver’s side — then left the scene.
After a short police pursuit, police arrested the 42-year-old Allegan man driving that truck, when he pulled into a driveway. The operator of the truck was arrested on the suspicion of operating while intoxicated.
The suspect and the deputy were each taken to an area hospital, where the suspect refused any medical treatment. No names are being released at this time.
Michigan State Police assisted Allegan County Sheriff’s deputies.
