HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 13, 2026) – To use a term from the retail sales world, the home of Holland’s iconic symbol is having a “soft opening” on Monday.
Windmill Island Gardens begins its 2026 season, welcoming visitors to not only tour the DeZwaan Windmill that towers over the 36-acre park, but also the a replica village that depicts life in the 1840’s when the Holland settlement in West Michigan was founded, and much more, according to Andrea Bork, Programs Coordinator for the Gardens.
Opening week activities include a make-and-take Bee Hotels workshop on Tuesday evening, a De Tuin Klas – Scraps to Soil composting workshop on Thursday evening, and a 5K “Run of the Mill” set for Saturday.
Windmill Island Gardens’ season runs seven days a week through early fall, and outside of the Tulip Time Festival and special events, admission is free for residents of zip codes 49423 and 49424. More information is available here.
