Kenneth J. Michmerhuizen, 86, put aside all the things of earth and entered Heaven on March 18, 2026. He lived a good and full life while he walked here below as a child of God. Ken was very proud of his children and their spouses and delighted in being with them, also his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He found great joy being with his family, especially when they were all together for special occasions.
Ken enjoyed the outdoors in fishing, golfing and hunting.
After retiring from Black River Landscaping, Ken and his wife, Karen (VanDam), began adventures of sailing and traveling in their RV. Ken also enjoyed woodworking and building boats.
Ken had many friends who stopped in at his workshop for a game of Cribbage and Friday lunches over the years with his Barn Buddies.
Ken and Karen were married for 65 years. They were blessed with four children who have brought much joy into their lives. He is survived by his daughter, Sally (Daniel) Zwier of Holland; son, Steven (Janis) of Budapest, Hungary; son, Marshall (Marcelynn) of Holland; and daughter, Courtenay Michmerhuizen (Anthony Notario ) of Ann Arbor. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Lauren and Brandon Dekker, Allison, Elise, and Claire. Gavin and Emmy Zwier, Charlotte and James; Adam and Jordyn Zwier, Graham and Sutton. Gerrit, Henry, and Sam Michmerhuizen, Lillian, William, and Joseph Michmerhuizen, and Helena and Haydn Notario.
Ken is also survived by his brothers Donald and Judy, Richard and Jane, Russel and Wanda, sister-in-law, Tricia Aukema. In-laws: Terry Van Haitsma and Judy Bruinsma, Russel and Connie VanDam, Janice DeBoer and David Smits.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald and sister-in-law, Lynn; in-laws Alvin and Barbara Jager, Rosemary Van Haitsma, Randall DeBoer, niece Jennifer VanDam, and nephew Eric DeBoer.
Visitation is planned for 4:00-7:00pm Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland, 49423. A Memorial Service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Pillar Church 57 E. 10th St. Holland MI 49423, on April 29, 2026. Rev. Paul Hontz and Rev. Tim Brown will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pillar Church Mission Partners.
