ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC-AM, Mar. 30, 2026) – For the third time in five years, a NCAA women’s basketball championship team has returned to Ottawa County from winning the title in Pittsburgh.
On Sunday, it was Grand Valley State who came back triumphant from the Steel City, as Mike Williams’ Lakers downed Indiana of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon, 72-49, for their second straight national crown won at Cooper Fieldhouse.
It was GVSU’s third women’s NCAA hoops title, equalizing that of fellow Ottawa County school Hope College, who won its third championship in 2022, also at Cooper Fieldhouse.
