SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 9, 2026) – One of the priorities set by the Saugatuck City Council for Fiscal 2026 will be addressed during Monday night’s biweekly business meeting.
Among the items on the agenda is establishing a public speech policy and a palette sign display policy for that Lakeshore community. As Trent Cunningham of the law firm Fahey Schultz Burzych Rhodes, retained as the municipality’s legal counsel, explained in last Wednesday’s council workshop, it’s a matter that needs addressing.
On the consent agenda is a resolution to oppose legislation in the state House related to housing and zoning, saying that those matters should be left to local governments to address. The governing panel also plans to go into a closed-door session, conferring with legal counsel on options pertaining to a long-standing lawsuit by Dune Ridge over the city’s floating homes ordinance.
The 6:30 PM Saugatuck City Council business session is in the second-floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
