Taking a page out of Hope College’s book eight days earlier in winning both of its league’s basketball tournament titles, Grand Valley State swept the GLIAC championships with convincing victories yesterday. In Marquette, Mason Docks and Jalen Charity each had 13 points as the Lakers downed host Northern Michigan, 67-57. At the Fieldhouse Arena in Allendale, MacKenzie Bisballe’s 25 points helped the GVSU women rout visiting Ferris State, 83-62. Last night, the NCAA Division II championship tournament brackets were announced, with the GVSU men playing Ashland in North Canton, OH on Saturday, and the women hosting Maryville of Maryland on Friday.
The major-college basketball regular season ended yesterday with Michigan beating visiting Michigan State, 90-80. This evening, in the Horizon League tournament semifinals at Cleveland, Detroit Mercy clashes with Robert Morris.

Moritz Seider scored one goal and assisted on two others, as the Red Wings blanked the New Jersey Devils in Trenton last night, 3-0. Detroit skates in suburban Miami against the Florida Panthers tomorrow evening, with broadcast time at 6:45 PM on WHTC Holland’s Cool FM.
Miro Heiskanen’s goal in the first minute of overtime lifted the Dallas Stars over the visiting Blackhawks last night, 4-3. Chicago welcomes the Utah Mammoth to the United Center tonight.
