The last big Friday evening of prep hoops action for the regular season features a number of doubleheaders. Around 5:10 PM, Greg Chandler will bring you coverage of the Hudsonville at West Ottawa boys/girls contests on WHTC Holland’s Cool FM. Other such match ups in the OK Conference has Holland versus Holland Christian at the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place, Hamilton at Zeeland East, and Unity Christian at Zeeland West. Girls/boys twin bills in the Southwestern Athletic Conference has Saugatuck at Gobles, Watervliet at Fennville, and Martin at Black River. There is also a girls/boys set with Calvary at Heritage Christian.

Grand Valley State split a basketball doubleheader with Saginaw Valley State in Kochville Township last night. Paige VanStee scored 25 points as the visiting Lakers won the women’s opener, 68-42. Dontez Scott tallied 27 points as the Cardinals captured the men’s nightcap, 92-65. GVSU’s teams are in Sault Ste. Marie tomorrow afternoon for games at Lake Superior State.
In state major-college basketball this evening, Milwaukee is at Detroit Mercy, and Green Bay is at Oakland.

Last night, as the NBA resumed regular-season play following last weekend’s All-Star activities, Cade Cunningham lit up New York for 42 points and 13 assists, as the visiting Pistons defeated the Knicks, 126-111, while Brandon Ingram tossed in 31 points as the visiting Toronto Raptors downed the Bulls, 110-101. Detroit and Chicago meet at the United Center tomorrow evening.
